The Family Law Act was amended to introduce a scheme to split superannuation when married people separate.  It commenced on 28 December 2002.

SuperSplitting has been established as a solicitor corporation to provide advice and related professional services to other professionals on the super splitting amendments. These professionals will be involved in the financial services and superannuation sectors. It includes:

Accountants

Superannuation trustees and administrators

Financial planners

Our mission is to provide expert professional services in this highly specialised
area of the law.

Who We Are

SuperSplitting is a group of experienced lawyers with expertise in both family law and superannuation law. The principal of SuperSplitting is Stephen Bourke.

We are the authors of the leading text on the new super splitting laws published by CCH. In his foreward to the text, the Commonwealth Attorney-General, Daryl Williams AM QC MP said:

"Those in legal practice will benefit from the many tips, as will those working in the superannuation industry. It will become an important practice guide for trustees and their advisers when they are faced with an agreement or order to split superannuation.
