What We Offer

1. Legal Advice:

SuperSplitting offers expert legal advice on all the options for the splitting of superannuation. Many questions arise under the new law. How do you draft an order?  When can a new interest be created? When does a base amount have to be adjusted? What is a valid separation declaration? What are the trustee responsibilities? SuperSplitting offers expert legal advice on all aspects of the super splitting laws.

2. Toolkit for Practitioners:

Legal Practitioners are able to access the comprehensive toolkit that contains all the essential tools to guide you through the maze of the super splitting laws.  The toolkit has the following elements:

·         Calculator:  A simple to use step by step calculator has been devised to enable the user to obtain a calculation of the value of the superannuation interest from their desktop. The calculator gives a value that is in accordance with the new super splitting laws. The calculator has been independently verified by consulting actuaries from the Heron Partnership as giving the correct value. More Information >

·         Precedent Orders & Agreements:  A list of precedent orders and agreements has been prepared for all situations. The orders cover accumulation interests, defined benefit interests and self managed superannuation interests. Become a member to view Precedent Orders & Agreements >

  • Database on Trustees:  This valuable resource will save time and money in researching superannuation. It covers the type of interest, the address for service as well as a wealth of other information practitioners need to know about superannuation trustees. More Information >

3. Expert Commentary:

Superannuation law is a maze.  Expert commentary on all aspects of the new laws is provided by Garry Watts, Stephen Bourke and Michael Taussig QC.  The commentary provides guidance on the many difficult questions that arise in the interaction of family law and superannuation law such as “What is the superannuation surcharge?  Why is it important?”.  These and many other questions are the subject of ongoing commentary.

Leading cases as they are decided are also summarised with commentary on the main points from the case.

The commentators are also the authors of the leading text, “Super Splitting on Marriage Breakdown” published by CCH.

4. Training:

SuperSplitting offers a range of tailored seminar and training courses for all professionals.  Courses cover:

  • Orders and Agreements
  • Valuation and Tax

These courses are provided on open subscription on a regular basis and can also be provided by way of in-house seminars.

5. Professional Advice Services:

Many questions will arise under the new law for trustees and those advising the trustees of self managed funds. What are the trustees responsibilities?  What fee can be charged?  What do you do if you suspect an order is not valid?

SuperSplitting offers expert professional and legal advice on all aspects of the super splitting laws for accountants and others advising trustees of both self managed superannuation funds as well as the larger regulated funds.
